Purpose:
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a Facilities Manager. A Facilities Manager organises, controls and coordinates the strategic and operational management of facilities in a public or private organisation.
This occupational qualification not only compares with the international norm, it encompasses the international norm. The qualification furthermore provides access to a wide array of learners to ultimately obtain competencies aligned with internationally defined standards in Facilities Management.
A qualified learner will be able to:
1. Manage client, staff and supplier contracts and agreements.
2. Plan and manage service and support functions required for a sustainable business.
3. Plan and manage the business support systems and processes (executive functions).
4. Analyse and attend to client/user needs to sustain and support core business.
Rationale: The qualification is aimed at providing learners with the required competence related to Facilities Management. Content covers a wide range of topics, ranging from occupational health and safety, financial management, space management, as well as green innovations defined specifically to equip managers to function in the facilities management realm.
Entry Requirements:
1. Level 4 with Communication and Mathematical Literacy.
2. Desirable : At least 2 years’ experience in the facilities management industry.
Internal Assessments
To qualify for a statement of results which in turn allows for entry to the final exam students will have to provide proof of completion of all required knowledge and practical modules and a record of completed work experience. As an occupational certificate this course requires extensive practical work and the submission of various items of a practical nature.
Workplace experience
The student will have to be placed at a relevant worksite for the period of time indicated below in order to fulfil the requirements. Students should be aware that they are themselves responsible for this placement. Workplace experience will allow the learner or individual to practise and gain important experience and empower them to be ‘work ready’
Final Examination:
Once all the internal assessments above have been successfully completed, we will issue you, the student with a statement of results. This is a requirement to sit for the Final Integrated Examination ( FISA) . The FISA is a closed book examination at an approved examination venue and is organised externally by the QCTO/SETA.
