This course explains the SANS246 standard for Fire Protection of Electronic Equipment Rooms.

Due to the importance of the functions carried out in Electronic Equipment Rooms early fire detection

is critical, such that special rules and conditions are applied, over and above SANS10139.

This course will take you through the standard so you can apply these recommendations to your fire

detection systems.

This course explains and covers the installation standards for Fire Detection in Hospitals.

• Understand the scope and requirement of SANS 322 and the relationship with SANS 10139
• Understand the positioning and types of fire detectors to be used in hospitals.
• Understand Manual call points usage and siting
• Understand Audible and visual alarms in hospitals
• Understand how to interface to other building services

SAQCC certified - SANS322 Fire Detection Commissioner*

SANS10139 Fire Detection for Buildings is the main installation practice for fire detection in South Africa.  All the other standards use SANS10139 as the basis for fire detection so in order to do any installations in compliance with the local laws, knowledge and understanding of SANS10139 is crucial.

SANS10139 covers everything from which devices are appropriate for which areas, to specific calculations depending on room size, shape and height.
