Length of Course:

Once provided with the manual, the student has 6 months to complete. We urge you not to use the full 6 months in the event of remedial work required.

Entry Requirements:

Ability to attend one of campuses; Durban, Johannesberg or Cape Town to write the exam. There are different requirements per PSIRA Grade.

Articulation:

PSIRA grades follow a progressive sequence—each grade must be successfully completed before progressing to the next level.

TYPE:  Skills program

MODE: All PSIRA grades are self-study. No contact training is required. Exams are written at one of our campuses.

Why should I do this course?

Security grades are required for various reasons and positions in the industry. Below are the different PSIRA grades offered at Vital College.

Grade E

This course is aimed at the duties of Patrolmen or Security Officers

Entry requirements:
ABET Level 3 (Grade 7)

COST: R750.00

Grade D

This course is aimed at the duties of access or gate controllers

Entry requirements: Grade E

COST: R800.00

Grade C

This course is aimed at the duties of a Senior Security Officer.

Entry requirements: Grade D

COST: R850.00

Grade B

This course is aimed at the duties of a Junior Supervisor.

Entry requirements: Grade C

COST: R950.00

Grade A

This course is aimed at the duties of a Senior Security Officer with a managerial function over a number of people including directors.

COST: R950.00

Cash in Transit

This course is aimed at the duties of Security Officer conveying cash or valuable assets.

Entry requirements: Grade C

COST: R950.00

Armed Response

This course is aimed at the duties of a Security Officer employed to respond to various types of alarm situations.

Entry requirements: Grade C

COST: R950.00 (Before firearms)

Financial Institution

This course is aimed at the duties of a Security Officer employed at financial institutions

Entry requirements: Grade C

COST: R950.00

Retail Security

This course is aimed at the duties of a Security Officer employed at a retail outlet performing a risk control function

Entry requirements: Grade D

COST: R950.00

Hotel Security

This course is aimed at the duties of a security officer employed at a hotel / guest house outlet performing a risk control function

Entry requirements: Grade C

COST: R950.00

Special Events

This course is aimed at the duties of a Security Officer rendering a security service at special events, i.e. rugby/soccer stadiums, pop concerts, etc.

Entry requirements: Grade D

COST: R950.00

Each PSIRA grade follows the same process:
Training is requested and scheduled, after which the training manuals are either couriered to the student or collected from one of our campuses in Durban, Johannesburg, or Cape Town. Students then have six months to complete the exam, which must be written at one of our branches.

Assessments:
Upon successful completion of a PSIRA grade, a certificate will be issued by Ubuntu. This certificate is valid for life and does not expire. Students may then proceed to register with PSIRA at their own expense. Please note that PSIRA registration must be renewed annually. Our Student Support Team at Vital College is available to assist and guide students through the registration process.

  1. The Online Application System must be used by all prospective students applying for admission to any studies.
  2. Each applicant must submit only one application per study instance.

  4. Once your application has been submitted, our student support will verify it.
  5. A student adviser will thereafter make contact with you in order to guide you further in your application process. Kindly expect a 72 hour turnaround period.
  6. Please be advised that the College reserves the right to admit or not to admit any applicant to any studies. Reasons for non-admission will be provided.

  3. Reliable devices for online learning and Webinars.
  4. Ability to attend in-person contact training at our branch in Durban.
