Targeting those with a GETC Level 1 qualification, the program is ideal for current home-care workers looking to enhance their skills, as well as newcomers seeking formal training for employment in the sector.
Why should I do this course?
Establishments providing home-care and many individual households have a need for a home-care practitioner to provide a comprehensive service for the general and/or specific requirementsof the setting in question. There is a need for a broad-based qualification that incorporates a range of generic and specialist competencies in home-care services.
Qualifying learners will be able to:
Workplace Experience
The student will have to be placed at a relevant worksite for the period of time indicated below in order to fulfil the requirements. Workplace experience will allow the learner or individual to practise and gain important experience and empower them to be ‘work ready’. Students should be aware that they are themselves responsible for these workplace placement arrangements.
International Comparability
Home-care is also known as Housekeeping or Caretaking and the qualifying person is also known as the “Carer”; in other countries. This qualification compares well with what is offered internationally in New Zealand and the United Kingdom (UK) for entry-level workers in this sector.
